CPR (Resuscitation)

CRITICAL
  • > Push hard & fast at chest center (100–120 bpm).
  • > Ratio: 30 Compressions : 2 Rescue Breaths.
  • > Lock elbows, compress 2 inches deep.
  • > Continue without stopping until ambulance arrives.

BLEEDING CONTROL

CRITICAL
  • > Apply Direct Pressure with clean cloth/pad.
  • > Do NOT remove soaked pads; layer additional pads.
  • > Elevate wound above heart level if no fracture.
  • > Secure tightly with pressure bandage.

CHOKING ACTION

  • > If victim can cough: Encourage continuous coughing.
  • > If silent: Deliver 5 sharp back blows.
  • > Deliver 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich).
  • > Repeat cycle until airway obstruction clears.

BURNS & SCALDS

  • > Cool under clean running water for 20 mins.
  • > Do NOT apply ice, oil, ghee, or toothpaste.
  • > Cover loosely with clean plastic cling wrap.
  • > Remove jewelry/clothing before swelling starts.

FRACTURES & SPRAINS

  • > Immobilize area. Do NOT try to realign bone.
  • > Apply ice wrapped in towel (max 15 mins).
  • > Support joint with improvised sling or padding.
  • > Keep limb elevated to reduce localized swelling.

SHOCK MANAGEMENT

  • > Lay victim flat; elevate legs 12 inches if safe.
  • > Keep patient warm with blanket or jacket.
  • > Do NOT give water, tea, or food.
  • > Monitor breathing continuously until help arrives.

IMPORTANT: Stay calm and evaluate scene safety before assisting. Always direct someone to dial 108/102 immediately while starting first aid interventions.
